Another Wedding outfit needed.

In 3 weeks time we have another wedding to go to, it's for our niece, who is sibling of our nephew who married in June. What to wear has been a dilemma, I didn't want to wear the same outfit to both weddings but also didn't want to be buying a new dress. Even searching for fabrics and patterns to make a new dress didn't appeal, looked at Lincraft and Spotlight but didn't find any suitable fabric. Though at Spotlight they had some gorgeous fabric on display, when I asked where to find it they told me that it was only display fabric and they had nothing like it on sale. They even had mannequins dressed up with these fabrics but have never even sold them. Wouldn't it be logical to only use the fabrics you do sell in displays? While I was in Spotlight I noticed a gorgeous knitted top on display in the yarn section so asked if there was a pattern for it. Instead of simply telling me which book the pattern was in I was told "you can't just have the pattern, it's from a book and you have to buy the whole book". DUH I thought and then had ask which book it was in. I searched high and low for the yarn it was knitted in before asking another staff member if they had it. Was told "I don't know nuffing about yarn". The next staff member told me that the yarn was discontinued and no longer available. So I stood in the middle of Spotlight and rang Lincraft who did have the yarn and book. I once worked for Spotlight and always made sure I knew as much as I could, if asked about something I didn't know I took the customer to a staff member who knew and listened to what they said.

Anyway back to the dress, while out I started thinking how I could adapt the dress I already have so it looked different. Thought about making satin roses to go on the bodice but then found a black and silver scarf. It is really stretchy large holed mesh with fringing. I paid $15 for it and asked if it could be returned if not suitable.

At home the dress was still on my mannequin so I put the scarf on to it, pegging at the shoulders with the fringe hanging from the underbust seam. David walked in as I was doing it and told me it looked good, he was pleased I didn't just get another dress. It's going to end up as a top to wear over the dress. Dilemma solved.

I put the dress on to check that what I had planned would suit me and discovered another bee in the ointment. The dress is now too big, I've lost 4 or 5 kilos since wearing it. WOOHOO! All I'm going to do is take in the bodice under the arms and see how it looks - might have to leave that till the last moment because I am still losing, was down a kilo this week.
