On Friday took myself for a drive to some of my favourite places, drove up the mountains and had morning tea at Lindsay's Cafe before taking a little walk along the track past the pool. I sat on a rock for some alone time to meditate, take in the scenery and read a little. I'm reading Sensing
Spirit by Mitchell Coombs and am really enjoying it. So many things he describes have happened to me. At one stage I glanced up from reading and noticed a little blue orb that disappeared as I looked right at it, was it a Faery? So amazing.
Afterwards I drove into Springwood and as I was driving through the main street I noticed a woman who was crossing the road, she made me think of Robyn from Villa Maria. I tried spotting her in the rear vision mirror to see if it was her but with needing to keep an eye on what was in front of me, didn't get very good look.
So Robyn were you crossing the road in Springbrook shopping centre yesterday? Or was it just wishful thinking.
I had a great time just wandering the shops before heading down to Penrith Mall on the way home. Was so exhausted when I got home that I fell asleep on the lounge for an hour or two.
Today (Saturday) was my Son's Birthday, he turned 16. It doesn't seem that long ago when they put his tiny body on my chest, I wondered why they put him with his back to me at the time, before they whipped him away. It seemed ages before they got him to cry, I didn't realise I had been holding my breath and only let it out when I heard him cry.
And now he is a big 16 year old, taller than me, with a fledgling moustach and determined he is getting his learner's permit this week. I may be in for more breath holding.

Of Maids and crochet.
Hired me a maid, yup a maid.
For at least half an hour each day she is employed to clean my house. I am a hard task master, no breaks during that half hour, she's been pretty good with it no complaining at all. First day she had to tackle my neglected kitchen, then second day is was back into the kitchen to clean up after dinner and then tidy the dining area. Today she put dinner on, a load of washing in the machine and then went on to tidy the main bathroom, I even had her on her hands and knees wiping over the floor with a damp cloth. After that she dished up dinner, I've insisted on her returning later to clean up the dinner things and the kitchen.
No real payment is provided, she will be rewarded one day a week with a day off either in or out as the whim takes me, perhaps a visit to a nice coffee shop or someother reward. If she doesn't make an appearance one day a forfeit will be made, no day off until her times are made up. Sounds mean doesn't it?
It doesn't matter what time she turns up as long as she does, last night it was 10.30 pm, the night before it was around midnight, tonight it was 7.30pm. I had just finished watching a favourite show and decided that it was time she turned up, was looking forward to it. I got up and walked to the kitchen dresser, pulling out her apron, pulled it over my head and tied it behind my back and TAA DAA instant maid. It's one of the things I didn't like about wife and motherhood, the maid or (dare I say it?) the feeling of being a slave to my family, it's really been a bugbear to me and is the reason I let things get neglected, perhaps I was a slave in a past life. Doing this puts things on my terms, I've turned around something that I thought was negative to being positive.
Her influence rubbed off on me, because last night after I put her back in the drawer I had the cleaning urge and cleaned the hotspot by my bed and my bedside drawers. I lit my salt lamp, sandalwood and listened to Sacred Earth, it's been a long time since I've done that. Afterwards I got into bed and read from Change your Life in 7 days before putting in Chakra Cleaning Meditation CD and then did the Hypnosis CD from Change your Life before falling asleep.
On the craft front, I've been crocheting myself a bag. Had been wanting a plain black bag for a while now and recently saw a crochet one for sale, figured I could make one myself. I came across this one at Future Girl, fell in love with the shape, I'm not doing the handle part, I want it to be a shoulder bag. Her instructions are great and the bag is coming along nicely. I chose Moda Vera Beetle yarn, 50% cotton/acrylic, would have prefered cotton only but this had the exact feel I was looking for, it's crocheting up beautifully on a 4mm hook. The yarn was on special $2 instead of $3, I think I'll need less than 3 full balls.
Just refered to the first part of this message, to some it might sound like sheer lunacy which is why I added it as a label. Perhaps it is, perhaps the Moon is working on me. We tried seeing the Super Moon but it's been rainy and overcast. Only saw it a little 2 nights ago and to me it wasn't that big, then my brother told me that because we are heading to winter we wouldn't see it at it's biggest anyway.

And so it begins........
My daughter has finally started to show an interest in sewing, a little while back she asked my Mum if she could teach her. Then it was suggested that she go to classes that the craft group at our church run, but then she started a full time TAFE course. Mum gave her 4 weeks tuition at the sewing shop for her birthday, she started today. Of course I was the taxi service, machine hauler and setter upperer. My machine weighs a ton and add the wheeled bag to it it's about a ton and a half. My daughter wouldn't even be able to lift it.
She's sewing stretch pants, Kwik Sew 3443. Apart from the time it took me to drive home to pick up the gift voucher and to buy a pair of left handed scissors to cut paper with I stayed in the store either browsing, crocheting a bag or sitting by her to help with accuracy. Her first seam needs unpicking but her second try at a seam went well, I turned down the speed on the machine.
This has been the most use the machine has had in ages.
When I pulled it out in the class the store owner commented on the fancy dancy machine I had, the others had basic machines and mine is an embroidery model. But for all it's fanciness it has it's faults, the bobbin doesn't always wind successfully, I usually have to do it twice before it's right, the light doesn't work and the screen has faded so much that you have look at it from an angle to see it. I'm going to put it in for service soon to see if they can rectify it, though am thinking a new machine might be on the horizon. Maybe a little basic one just for Cassie to use.

I can make you Thin.

After so many years of being overweight I am finally doing something about it, oh I've done something about it in the past but didn't follow through.
This week I've been listening to a CD by Paul McKenna, I can make you Thin, when I go to bed. I've noticed the difference, I stop eating when I feel satisfied even if it means leaving food on my plate, my sweet cravings are diminishing and I've developed a need to exercise.
I have been a little slack by not taking my lunch to work but instead of buying a burger, I've been having salad sandwiches or turkey, avocado and pineapple on a roll. Each day I also buy a fruit salad, I finish that in the car on the way home - keeps me from pulling into McDonalds for a drink and invaribly a burger and fries. There is also a supply of chocolate at work so I keep what I call my 'Chocolate saving Banana' in the tea room. Over the past week it's saved lots of chocolate.
Last night I was having a last moment surf on the net, I wanted to look up something but as soon I got the computer on I forgot what it was and ended up on You Tube where I found Jack Lalanne videos. I watched a couple doing the face exercies before going to bed.
This morning I looked up his website and then spent almost 25 minutes exercising with him, starting with his first episode. I like how he eases you in and there is no back busting moves straight in, I really enjoyed it and will be watching and participating in more episodes.
