Today, oops looking at the clock yesterday was my Mother in law's birthday, her 80th. She is having a party tommorrow, I mean today. Instead of buying gifts my Siser in laws thought that we would have a cash collection for her so she can buy something she really needs. We thought it was a great idea, I know it's not personal but I'm sure she will appreciate it.
I however had planned on knitting some fingerless mitts to go with the Tam I made her for Mother's Day and have just finished knitting those. I hope she will like them.
Today (Saturday) is also my sister's birthday, I must ring her in the morning.
Then next weekend is my Father's 70th birthday, he was supposed to be having a surprise party but an Aunt let the cat out of the bag. Can't blame her she gets muddled since suffering a stroke last year. My brother made the suggestion of getting a photo done for him of us so we are having a photo shoot on Monday. Originally he had planned on getting it done professionally told me that he was quoted $140 per person. I asked if there was anyway of cutting the cost down, suggesting we use our niece for hair and make up and have the photo taken ourselves. Apart from compensating our niece for her time it will only cost us to have the shots developed. There's no way I could afford to pay the money, my hours have been cut dramatically (though not as dramatically as my brother, who lost his job a couple of weeks ago thanks to the economic climate) having to buy a new washing machine hasn't helped.
Nor does what we have planned for the following weekend, hubby's nephew is marrying his partner. Their wedding is going to be a lavish affair and is formal dress which means I need a new outfit. I have nothing suitable for even a non formal wedding. Went looking yesterday, there is only one shop locally with suitable dressy clothing. They had some nice outfits but were around the $200 mark, even with the 20% discount - no thank you. I have 2 other options, first I thought that I could go to a nice secondhand clothing shop to see if there is something suitable there, we are going in the morning. Or I could make my own outfit, I've chosen the pattern, a dress with a jacket and have decided to make the dress part in satin backed crepe, the jacket part I want to make in a sheer print. I wish I had lost weight for this, I did lose 5 kilos and am hoping to add more to that over the next couple of weeks, still have a lot more to go. .

OMGoodness $140 pp sounds extravagant for a photo shoot. Hope you sort something out.
