I was transferred to another location at work last week, was told it was coming, then told they changed their minds because they were worried that I didn't want to travel so far. To me it meant working with people that I respect and whose work ethics match my own, so I told them in no uncertain terms that I wanted to go. Don't mind the travel at all, I catch the train and can knit. It's a 20 minute walk from the station, I now don't feel guilty about not getting my exercise. At the moment I'll be taking on 2IC, Supervisory role temporarily so it will mean longer hours for a couple of months at the most.
My only bugbear is that I come home to a messy house, spent this morning tidying and forcing the kids to help - they don't do well without supervision, where did I go wrong? The fact that hubby brought home 2 tables and a countertop, just dumping them in the dining area. There's nowhere else for them to go right now, I did at least move them to look a little better.
They came from his work, they were throwing them out. He was hoping to use the tables in the computer room but has changed his mind. The benchtop is going into the laundry, the washer and drier will go under it, as well as a hamper or two. It will give a spot for folding clean clothes. It will fit perfectly, the only thing wrong is that it has a hole cut out of it, but I think we can plug it with something. I love free stuff.

Chemical free living
I've been trying to use less chemicals in my house, it's an ongoing process that I am implementing in baby steps. I can't see the worth of simply throwing out the ones I already had, not good for the purse strings but worse for the environment.
My en suite bathroom has been looking worse for wear, at the moment it's our only shower and each day there are 4 or 5 showers taken. It's on the south side of the house, getting no sun at all and never seems to dry out, having no venting fan doesn't help. As a result mildew sets in on the walls and ceiling. Usually I would do the bleach thing but now that is now a thing of the past.
What I am now trialing is Oil of Cloves, mix quarter teaspoon to 1 litre water in a spray bottle. Spray onto mildewed area and then leave 24 hours. Using a vinegar water mixture, I added a splash of vinegar to a sink of water, wipe area clean. According to Shannon Lush Oil of Cloves is a mould inhibitor.
It has worked quite well, it didn't bleach out stains but there were many that the last time I bleached didn't come out either. It just shows that the room needs painting, it hasn't been done since we moved in and even then only had one coat. I think the stained area is where the paint is wearing. Told my husband that the room has to be repainted in the near future
There was a smell of cloves in the bath room and in the kitchen where I split a little, had comments of the weird smell from both my husband and daughter. After proper cleaning there is now no smell, not like chlorine which lingers for ages both in the room and on the skin no matter how much protection used.

Wedding Outfit
The wedding was today, was a real Purple day. The bridesmaids were in Cadbury purple, the mothers of the bride and groom both wore purple, as well as several guests including myself. Purple must be the new black. The shawl was pinned to the dress with a vintage brooch that was my Grandmother's. Being winter I added a thicker shawl for use when outdoors.
True to form I left sewing the dress til this week. Worked on it over 2 nights, left hand stitching and hems til yesterday. Around 12 last night I decided I just had to have a matching bag, so made up a knot bag using the dress fabric, deciding to use the wrong side of the satin backed crepe for the outside. By the time I dragged myself to bed all I had to do was the hand stitching on the handles. Thought the bag looked great. The colours in the pictures aren't true, the true colour is close to plum, on the Burgundy side of purple I suppose, the first photo here is pretty close to being true.

My mannequin is not true to size, she is much smaller so the dress is pegged in the back.

This is how I mostly wore the outfit, the second photo is for when I didn't want to worry about the shawl slipping.

Seeing as it was winter I wore a thicker shawl for outside. Though the reception room wasn't' that warm, we were near the door and there was a draft at times. For some reason they had the air cond on as well, over the bridal table it was blowing strongly and wasn't on warm, the Bridal party must have been so cold.

Yesterday I got a new mobile phone and not wanting to have it scratched up I whipped up a phone sock out of fleecy fabric. When I got home I decided I just had to have a cover that matched the bag, so I tried making a little purse for it to fit in but cut the wadding too small. Instead of making a purse I ended up making a wrap for it, the wadding was cut perfect size for that, it works much better than the purse would have. It was a pity I didn't have enough time to make up a purse to carry my license and cards in. Instead I carried those items in an Altoids tin, it just happened to be handy.
